EPISODE DESCRIPTION
What if the thing standing between you and your next level was never out there at all?
All month long on Built for Confidence, we've been working through the Breakthrough Behaviors — the internal patterns that keep leaders, business owners, and kingdom builders stuck. In this episode, Coach Paul walks back through all four behaviors from June and shows you how they connect into a single battle showing up in four different arenas of your life.
Here's the through-line: your thoughts set the ceiling, doubt attacks the process, FOMO pulls you off your own lane, and mistakes tempt you to hide. But when you renew your mind and get that first one right, the other three start to lose their grip. This breakthrough was never going to come from the outside — it was always an inside job.
Plus, a first look at what's coming in July: a brand new four-week series walking through the life of Elijah — Refresh, Reframe, Replenish, and Return.
IN THIS EPISODE
Week 1 — Thoughts: Your thought life is the ceiling you lead under. The difference between processing a season and rehearsing one, plus the bamboo principle: if you're working hard and not seeing results yet, you're not failing — you're growing roots.
Week 2 — Doubts: Doubt does not disqualify you; staying in it does. The difference between doubt (a wavering moment inside the promise) and unbelief (a fixed decision of the heart) — and why clarity comes through obedience, not before it.
Week 3 — FOMO: FOMO isn't a social media problem, it's a focus problem — and underneath it, a trust problem. The Eve principle, the cost of running someone else's race, and how comparison robs your peace, focus, and creativity.
Week 4 — Mistakes: Most leaders either bury a mistake and push through, or perform past it while its weight shapes every decision after. The path forward is ownership — releasing it to the Father and asking what to do from here.

What if the thing standing between you and your next level was never out there at all? This whole month of June, that's the question that we've been circling on this podcast. We called this series the Breakthrough Behaviors. And the premise was simple. Because most of what keeps leaders, business owners, and kingdom builders stuck is not an external problem. It's an internal problem. And so we gave each one of these problems a name for this month. Number one was thoughts. Number two was doubts. Then number three was FOMO and mistakes. And so today I'm going to walk back through all four, and I'm going to show you how they all connect. Welcome to Build for Confidence, the podcast where kingdom builders rebuild identity, sharpen clarity, and lead with conviction. I am your host, Coach Paul Ibarra, and every week we're cutting through the noise to help you stop second guessing, start deciding, and build with confidence right where God has placed you. So listen, drop a review, drop a comment, hit that like, subscribe, all the things, and let's get started. So if you're just finding this podcast for the first time, welcome. I am Coach Paul, and I'm glad that you are here. This is the close of our June series. So think of today as the highlight reel. So as we walk through each behavior, I'm gonna point you back to the full episode so that you can get the entire breakdown. Because today I'm giving you the summary, not just the deep dive. So week one was thoughts. We started where everything starts, and that is your thought life. Before the strategy, before the systems, before the next big move, there's a conversation happening in the background of your mind all day long. And I told you that conversation becomes the ceiling that you live and lead under if you never work through it. We also talked about the difference between processing a hard season and rehearsing one. You see, processing moves you forward. Rehearsing only trains your mind to expect less than what God actually promised you. And we talked about the bamboo season, how bamboo grows underground for years before it ever breaks ground. So here's the key: if you're working hard and you do not see the results yet, you're not failing. You're only growing roots. And the tools that I gave you that week were two pieces of scripture that you can build an entire mental life on. 2 Corinthians 10 talks about taking every thought captive. Philippians 4, verse 8 is all about running every thought through the filter of whatever is true, honorable, and excellent. So if your mind has felt loud lately, go back and listen to the full episode on your thought life. The link for that is in the show notes. From there, we moved into doubt. And the title of that episode said everything. Doubt does not disqualify you. Staying in it does. The big distinction I gave you that week was the difference between doubt and unbelief, because Jesus responded to those two things very differently. Doubt is a wavering moment inside the promise. Unbelief is a fixed decision of the heart. You see, when Peter stepped out of the boat and started to sink, that was not him rejecting Christ. That was fear interrupting his focus. And Jesus caught him, corrected him, and kept walking with him. Then we looked at Mary and Martha standing at the tomb of Lazarus, saying, If you had been here, our brother would not have died. That was not unbelief either. That was disappointment, meeting God's perfect timing. And the doubt got resolved through an encounter with Jesus. And I also warned you about what happens when doubt stops being a moment and becomes a posture. When it hardens into a cycle, it produces instability in your leadership, in your relationships, and in your vision. There are scriptures all over the Bible that warns us about the double-minded man who was tossed like a wave of the sea. And the way out was never to wait until every question disappeared. It was Abraham leaving without the full itinerary, trusting God through the continued obedience. You see, clarity comes through obedience, not before it. So I asked you to name the next obedience step you already know to take and to take it before the full picture was clear. Whatever doubt you are carrying into July, don't carry it alone. Go and listen to the full episode on doubt for the complete breakdown. I've created these episodes. Why? Because I've been there as a business owner. I've been there as a father, as a husband, as a minister, as a pastor, as a kingdom entrepreneur. I have been there. And this is why I'm so passionate about it to help others and empower, equip, and establish God's kingdom on the inside of you. So every scripture that I'm talking about will be referenced down below in the show notes. Be sure to go and check out these show notes. Click the links that are there. Join the different email lists. God wants so much more for you, but you have to kill the doubt. So we're gonna move on to the next phase. So week three, we named something every leader feels, but most are too proud to say it out loud: the fear of missing out. And the first thing I told you that FOMO is not a social media problem, it's a focus problem. And at the root of every focus problem is a trust problem. We took it all the way back to the garden to what I call the Eve principle. You see, Eve was standing in the middle of abundance, surrounded by everything that she needed, and her focus shifted to the one thing that was withheld. That is the whole mechanism of FOMO. It is not actual lack, it is misplaced focused. You can be standing right in the middle of your assignment and still feel behind simply because your eyes are on the wrong thing. We also talked about the cost of running someone else's race. You can be busy, skilled, and productive and be completely off your assignment all at the same time. Because the engine underneath is envy. And comparison quietly robs a leader of three things: your peace, your focus, and your creativity. The fix is never willpower. The fix is clarity. Get clear with what God actually spoke over your life and build from there, instead of building from a reaction what you saw someone else doing. Ecclesiastes talks about all the toil that comes from a man's envy of his neighbor is no good. And also in Proverbs, it talks about envy, rotting bones. And then we also broke down the Apostle Paul talking about learning to be content in plenty and in need. I want you to hear this clearly. You were not behind. You were simply on a different assignment than everyone else. You were not built to run someone else's race. You were built for yours. So if comparison has been stealing your peace, the full episode of FOMO will help get your eyes fixed back on your own lane. All right? And then we close the series out with one that nobody wants to talk about, which is what you do with your mistakes. I told you that most leaders do one of two things with a mistake. They either bury it and push through, or they perform past it while the weight of it quietly shapes every decision that they make next. Ever been there? Listen, I want to share a story with you. I'm not going to mention any names because I don't want to put this person out there. But in our forged men's ministry, we were working through these same topics. And there was one of the men there that had been carrying the weight of what he thought was a mistake that brought death to somebody that he loved. And he had to release that. He had to ask not only for forgiveness of what he felt was a mistake, but he also had to forgive himself. And this is where you are as a business owner. I want you to really look deep on the inside of you that those mistakes that you've created, those areas of life that you know I could have done something different. You need to release them and take them to the Father and really look at it and say, Lord, what is the thing that you want me to do from this point forward? Does that make sense? I want to hear about it. I want you to comment. I want you to leave a review. I want you to email me at coachpolybara at gmail.com. Let me know what these shows are doing for you because my passion behind all of this is to equip God's saints so that you can be that entrepreneur that God has called you to be. And the truth is this: you have to get into the place of ownership. Own the fact that you made a mistake, own the fact that you may be dealing with FOMO, own the fact that you allow doubts to run through your mind, own the fact that you have to submit everything to God so that you can move forward. So, this wraps up this month's review. But if you're still carrying something with you that you wish that you could take back, I want you to check out episode number four. That link is in the show notes down below. And listen, I just want to encourage you today that God loves you. God knows exactly what you need when you need it. Because all of these behaviors are not four separate problems, they are the same battle showing up in four different arenas in your life. You see, your thoughts set the ceiling, doubt attacks the process, and FOMO pulls you off your own lane, and the mistakes tempt you to hide. But watch this. When you renew your mind, when you get that first one right, the other three start to lose their grip. A renewed mind does not panic and doubt. A renewed mind is not ruled by comparison. A renewed mind does not run and hide from a mistake because it already knows who God is. This breakthrough was never going to come from the outside. It was always an inside job. So what's coming in July? So glad you asked. Here's the good news. You will not be doing that work alone because starting next week, we are stepping into a brand new series. And I'm gonna be honest with you. June was a heavy month. We did deep, honest internal work on your thoughts, your doubts, your FOMO, and your mistakes. So this next month, we're going to breathe. We're going to walk through the story of Elijah, one of the most human, most worn-out, and most powerfully restored leaders in all of Scripture. And we are going to do it across four weeks. We're going to be talking about refresh, reframe, replenish, and return. So while you are still reflecting on June and working to break that one behavior, the next series is going to pour right back into you. Do not miss a single episode.
