Episode Overview In this episode, Paul Ybarra explores the essential shift from finding identity in "what we do" to "who we are" in Christ. Drawing from a morning walk spent in silence, Paul shares insights on entering a new season and the importance of being willing to release past achievements to stay aligned with God's purpose.

Key Takeaways

  • The Power of Unplugging: Paul discusses the necessity of cutting through the "clutter" and social media noise to hear clearly from God.
  • The Identity Question: A powerful reflection on a lesson learned in recovery ministry: "If you are what you have and you lose it, then who are you?".
  • Role vs. Identity: Paul emphasizes that he is not "Paul the Podcaster" or "Paul the Coach," but rather Paul who podcasts and Paul who coaches. This distinction ensures your value isn't tied to your business or tagline.
  • Scriptural Foundation: Our true identity is found in Genesis 1:26-28, being created in God's image and likeness, and as a new creation in Christ.

Weekly Execution Plan Paul challenges kingdom builders to take immediate action:

  1. Identify: Where is your identity anchored today?.
  2. Plan: What is your specific action plan for this week?.
  3. Execute: What is the specific result you are looking for by Friday at 6:00 a.m.?.

Welcome to Build for Confidence, the podcast where kingdom builders rebuild identity, sharpen clarity, and lead with conviction. I am your host, Coach Paul Ibarra, and every week we're cutting through the noise to help you stop second guessing, start deciding, and build with confidence right where God has placed you. So listen, drop a review, drop a comment, hit that like, subscribe, all the things, and let's get started. Number one. And number two, thank you for serving God the way that you do, because confidence in Christ is everything that we need. So as I was on my walk this morning, I was sitting and had no AirPods in, just me, the breeze, and my dog. How many of you have ever done that? You just go, you don't want to hear any noise, you don't want to hear any clutter, you don't want to hear anything, you don't you don't want to scroll on social media, you don't want to do videos, you don't want to do any kind of b-roll for my content creators. You don't want to do any of that. You just want to listen to nothing. And sometimes God will speak, sometimes he won't. Sometimes he'll allow you to speak, sometimes he wants you to speak, right? And so in that moment, these last two hours have been just relaxing and just being able to reflect on my new season, the new season that's coming up. There's things that I can't really disclose right now because I honestly don't have a hundred percent clarity on the direction God has taken me through it all. But I do know this that there are a few things that God is showing me right now, and he's preparing me to release. What does that mean? He's preparing me that at some point the things that I've built, I will have to release. I will have to throw in a campfire and just be like that season's gone, or that ship has sailed. Right? And to be honest, I'm totally 100% okay with it. I am literally okay with burning it. Because if my identity lies on the areas of life because of what I've built, then I'm missing the whole entire story. You know, there was something that was told to me years ago when I first started in recovery ministry and all the things, one of the leaders was training us and said, Hey, I want you guys to understand something. That if you are what you have and you lose it, then who are you? And so once again, that statement rings in my spirit as I'm thinking about this new season, this new place that God has me. If I am what I have and I lose it, then who am I? If I am the next level mindset coach and that's what I identify myself as and I lose that, then who am I? If I am forged ministry and I lose it, then who am I? If I am Built for Confidence podcast and I lose it, then who am I? And this is where I want to speak to you today. If you are your business and you lose it, if you are your tagline and you lose it, if you are your ministry and you lose it, then who are you? Who are you? Because this is where confidence, built for confidence, comes in, and this is where it's imperative that you understand that I'm not Paul the podcaster, I'm not Paul the next level mindset coach, I'm not Paul the CEO of Forged, I am Paul who podcasts. See the difference? I am Paul who helps run a ministry called Forged. I am Paul that helps people achieve the next level mindset. But I'm not the thing that people say that I am. But see, what happens so many times is especially in this influencer world this last 10 years, that once we put something out, someone creates an image based off the perspective that they have about us. They see the A side of the tape, they see the good reels, they see the what they say is success, and they want to mold that around me as the image. And then when I show up in a different way, they're like, oh, well, he was just being fake. No, your perception, the way you perceive who I was or am, that's the own image that you've created for yourself. So coming back to the area of your life where if you are what you have and you lose it, then who are you? It always comes back to Genesis 126 through 28. Let us create man in our image and in our likeness, and let's give them dominion over the birds of the air, the fish of the sea, all the things. That is our identity in Christ. If we go into the New Testament, you are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. So, what does that mean? The old is gone, it's a new identity in who you are already built upon. Now, this is an area that I didn't even think I was gonna tap into today. I was just gonna share my experience, walking my dog, and seeing how you were. But here's the truth. This new season that I'm entering in, you are part of that season. And I'm blessed to know that you're walking it out with me. And how do I know that you're walking it out with me? Receiving pictures from people that are saying, Hey, I've got this plan in my store, or I've got this plan on a speakerphone and I'm listening in and I'm just soaking it all in. That's what blesses me. What also blesses me, and to know that you can comment or you can send me a text, you can email me all the things to let me know how this podcast is reigning true in your life. I would definitely love to do life with you as well. If you want to stay connected with me via text, via mobile, text a word, text me to 719-509-1005. You're gonna get text throughout the month, you're locked in, you're good to go. Because here's the thing anytime that you are walking a life out with somebody, the accountability in that is gonna help you elevate to your next level. It's gonna help you elevate to your next season. And that's what this is all about. That's what Built for Confidence is all about. So, where is your identity today? What is your action plan this week? What is your end result that you would like to see by Friday, 6 a.m. this week? What is that execution that you're going to be a part of? What's the result that you're looking for? Do me a huge favor, drop it in the comments. Or again, shoot the word, text me to 719-509-1005. And now you're part of my text blast.
