Welcome back, Kingdom builders! I’m Paul Ybarra, and we are continuing our 31-day transformation journey through the Book of Proverbs. Today is Day 4, and I’ve got to tell you, the word "path" kept jumping off the page at me. We’re cutting through the noise today to talk about where you’re walking and how to lead with conviction right where God has placed you.
The Recipe for Results
I want you to think about instruction like a recipe. If you see a dish on TikTok and you want that exact result, you follow the recipe to a tea. It’s the same with your life and your business. Proverbs 4:10-11 tells us that when we receive God’s sayings and walk in the way of wisdom, our years will be many and we will be led in the right paths. If you want your vision to become a reality, you have to stay on the path God has set for you.
Navigating Frameworks and Avoiding the "Stupid Path"
Listen, we’ve all been there—drifting into the wrong direction without even realizing it. Proverbs 4:14 is clear: stay off the path of the wicked. In business, this means having the discernment to know which frameworks to follow. I always say: eat the meat and spit out the bones. If a business framework doesn't sit right with your spirit, there’s a reason for that. Follow the Light—Jesus—and stay aligned with like-minded believers who carry the Holy Spirit.
Ponder Your Path
I love Proverbs 4:26, which tells us to "ponder the path of your feet". To ponder means to study, investigate, and visualize where you are going. We need to make straight paths so we don't find ourselves "spinning our wheels" in spaces we were never meant to be. God wants us connected and healed, not dislocated by the wrong choices.

Welcome to Build for Confidence, the podcast where kingdom builders rebuild identity, sharpen clarity, and lead with conviction. I am your host, Coach Paul Ibarra, and every week we're cutting through the noise to help you stop second guessing, start deciding, and build with confidence right where God has placed you. So listen, drop a review, drop a comment, hit that like, subscribe, all the things, and let's get started. Listen, we're gonna dive right in. And today, what I want to be covering, I saw the word path three or four times. I said, Well, there's a reason I'm seeing it, and there's a reason why you need to hear it. So we're gonna learn this together. We're gonna work through this together. So let's go on over to verse 10 and 11. It says, Hear my son and receive my sayings, and the years of your life will be many. We learned about that yesterday. Right? For length of days and long life and peace, they will add to you. Verse 11 says, I have taught you in the way of wisdom, I have led you in the right paths. When God leads you into the right paths with the wisdom, with the discernment, with the understanding, with those things that you need, the tools that you're gonna need for life. That means you're on a right path. Now I know that sounds elementary. However, there's those reminders. I don't know about you, but if you're anything like me, when I read that, I'm like, okay, why am I being highlighted with paths? It's the roads that we're on, it's those things that we choose, those steps that we take. Left, right, repeat. We do these things, and sometimes we don't even know we're in a drift going into the wrong places or direction. But this is where God is showing us the right paths, is where I need you to be. Verse 12 says, When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, and when you run, you will not stumble. I believe God is teaching us here something today, this entire week. It's like going in into these areas that are going to not only show us what he's saying, but help empower us for our next. And this is where we're able to walk confidently in all the things that we do if we follow instruction. It's like a recipe. Now, if you have a cookbook or you're online with TikTok and you look at the plate and you're like, ooh, I want that desired result. Where's the recipe to that dish? When you follow that recipe to a T, guess what? Your result, 90% of the time, will be the picture that you saw. So in your mind, in your spirit, in your vision of your business, whatever that is, that end result is going to take the right path to get there. Now there's going to be those moments that the right path doesn't seem right. There's going to be the moments where we drift off the path. But see, here's where the power of God is so unique and so awesome because it's always available. God's guidance is always available if we're looking for it. If we go on to verse 14, matter of fact, this is going to confirm what I just said. Verse 13, take firm hold of instruction, do not let it go. Keep her, for she is your life. You want more life? Walk with wisdom. You want more life? Listen to instruction. You want more life? Look back at the recipe and do not negate from the recipe. Verse 14, do not enter the path of the wicked and do not walk in the way of evil. Avoid it. Do not travel on it. Turn away from it. I think the this one here is self-explanatory. Stay off the stupid path. Stay off the wicked path. Now, how does that tie into your business? Stay off the paths of people that you think the framework, that's the only framework that's going to work. If God is speaking to you to follow somebody for a framework, I've done it. I'm part of memberships. But even in that, you look at someone's framework. If something does not sit right with you, there's a reason for that. So was just having a conversation with a friend of mine via text this morning. Eat the meat, spit out the bones. Eat the things that you know, like, okay, this is good, this is good, this is good, but this right here, eh, doesn't really sit with me. God, how do I maneuver through this framework? Make sense? And that's where your confidence is going to come in. Verse 18 says, But the path of the just is like the shining sun that shines even brighter until the perfect day. The word sun, the reference down below, is literally light. But the path of the just is like the light. And what's the light that we need to follow? Jesus. We need to follow that light every single day. When we are jumping into other people's frameworks, I think the best remedy to do so is jumping into those who are like-minded believers. What did Jesus say about us? You are the light of the world. Yes, he's the light of the world, but he also claimed us to be the light of the world. Why? Because we carry Holy Spirit with us every single day. And winter land here, and then I'm going to let you go on about your day. Verse 26. Ponder the path of your feet and let all your ways be established. Verse 27, do not turn to the right or to the left. Remove your foot from evil. Ponder the path of your feet. What does it mean to ponder? When you're pondering on something, you're thinking about it. You're studying it. You're investigating it. You're you're pondering. When somebody tells me something or shares something with me, there's times when I'm like, let me ponder on that. Let me think about that. Let me visualize that. The same with this here. Ponder, visualize, look, investigate the path of your feet and let all your ways be established. Hebrews 12 and 13, that's the reference scripture to this. And it says, And make straight paths for your feet so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed. God wants you to stay connected, no dislocation, but rather be healed. When you're on that right path, no matter what that is, it must be a straight path. And this is where discernment and wisdom, prayer, and action come in. This is where we as believers and business owners have the confidence on the inside to say, you know what? I was down that path, but that's not where I was supposed to be. I was in that space. A year ago, two years ago, doing all the things that I thought were the right things, but I only found myself spinning my wheels. And that's not that's not of God. However, God did allow me to go through that path, even though it was my own. God rediscovered me and said, hey, get your butt over here, boy, because here's where we're going. So I want to thank you for tuning in to the Built for Confidence podcast.
