Welcome back, y'all! This is day number three of our Proverbs for 30 days journey. Today, we are diving deep into chapter 3, which offers essential guidance for the young and for those of us leading in business, ministry, and leadership. I don’t want us to just do another consistent thing; I want us to let this word marinate so we can really dig deep into what God is doing on the inside of us.
Here is what I’m leaning into today:
- The Secret to Great Peace: We’re looking at verses 1 and 2, which remind us to keep God’s commands in our hearts. This isn't about being legalistic; it’s about holding true to His word so that "length of days" and peace are added to us. To me, this "length of days" means that spiritually, emotionally, and mentally, every day and every season can be a good season because we are focused on His call. When you love His law, nothing causes you to stumble.
- Trust Over Understanding: We have to get out of our own heads. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. Your own heart can lead you to the wrong places, so instead, acknowledge Him in everything you’re doing today and let Him direct your specific path and assignment.
- Confidence is Built-In: Many of us are searching for confidence, but it’s already on the inside of you because the Holy Spirit lives there. Verse 26 says, "For the Lord will be your confidence". You don't have to conjure it up yourself; you were built for His confidence because you were created in His image.
- Sweet Sleep for the Journey: For my fellow business owners and leaders, I know the path ahead can feel long. But God says when you walk in His wisdom, you can lie down without fear and your sleep will be sweet. Even when trouble or "terror" comes—and it will—you can trust that He will keep your foot from being caught.
I want to hear from you! Every one of you is on a path that is specifically driven toward your unique assignment. Do me a favor and drop me a comment on Apple, YouTube, Spotify, or iHeart. Let me know your thoughts on today’s word—I really do read them!.
Next Steps:
- Activate Program Members: Head over to your worksheets and dive into the questions there. Take some time today to just sit with God and maybe even praise Him seven times throughout the day.
- Work with Me: If you’re ready to take your church, organization, or team to the next level, I’d love to come speak to your people. Reach out to me at coachpaulybarra@gmail.com and let’s get on a call.
I love you, God bless you, and I’ll catch you on day number four!

Welcome to Build for Confidence, the podcast where kingdom builders rebuild identity, sharpen clarity, and lead with conviction. I am your host, Coach Paul Ibarra, and every week we're cutting through the noise to help you stop second guessing, start deciding, and build with confidence right where God has placed you. So listen, drop a review, drop a comment, hit that like, subscribe, all the things, and let's get started. And today we're going to be diving into chapter three. It says guidance for the young. And I'm just going to highlight a few of the verses that really stood out to me this morning because I want to help us understand and go deeper in this area. But verse 1 and 2 says, My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands. Now here it is, for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you. Being the guy that I am, I'm like looking at the references, and one of the references was Psalms 119 and 165. And so it says, Great peace to those who love your law, and nothing causes them to stumble. When you read the before, Proverbs 119, 161, Princes persecute me without a cause, but my heart stands in awe of your word. I rejoice at your word as one who finds great treasure. We just talked about that. I hate and abhor lying, but I love your law. Seven times a day I praise you because of your righteous judgments. Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing causes them to stumble. Now, what does that mean for us today? That when we keep the commands and the law, now I'm not talking about being legalistic, I'm talking about holding true to what God's word tells us to do. Now, though we fail at times and though we miss the mark, and though we are disobedient at times, God's faithfulness continues to remain. So what is he telling us today? As long as you stay on the path that you're supposed to be staying, as long as you go deeper in me and really start digging, digging deep, right? But not only deep in his word, but digging deep on the inside of us. Digging deep and not just do another consistent thing. Because even this morning, as I was putting this together and reading, I didn't want to just read and then create the content. I wanted to read it and let it sit and marinate for a minute. Because here's what I believe. For it says, for length of days and long life and peace, they will add to you. I don't think the author in this Proverbs is saying when you do this, you're gonna live a long life up to a hundred years old. We don't know when our last breath is, but here's what I believe. Spiritually, emotionally, and mentally, every day will be a good day. Every season will be a good season. Why? Because we're focused on God's commands, we're focused on his law, we're focused on the things that he's called us to do. So whether it's leadership, business, ministry, I think the length of days is well, let me just ask this question. Have you ever been in that space where you've been so in tune with Holy Spirit? You've been rocking and rolling, things are just moving fluidly, and it's like, dang, where did the day go? Or it could be, man, I had such a good day today in the Lord. It's simply because we're holding and keeping the command. We're doing what we're called to do, we're doing what he's saying to do every single day. And this is why it's imperative that as we're looking to be confident in God, it's not something you search for, it's already on the inside. As long as Holy Spirit is living on the inside of you and you know without a shadow of a doubt that you're in his alignment, then guess what? The length of your days is gonna be many. Does that make sense? I hope and pray this makes sense because I love to bring a practical way to the word of God so that you're able to apply it in your everyday life. So as we move on over to verse 23 of chapter 3. Matter of fact, let's go to verse 21. It says, My son, let them not depart from your eyes. Prior to that, he's talking about wisdom. Keep sound wisdom and discretion, so they will be life to your soul and grace to your neck. Now watch this. Then, whenever you see then, that means, okay, now we step into this. Then you will walk safely in all your ways, and your foot will not stumble. You see, when you're so clear knowing that you are obeying what God is telling you, you're looking at his word, and you're following those commands, we have to get this notion out of our mind that we're not bound by the law. No, we're not bound by the Mosaic law. We're not bound by our traditional laws. There's still laws that God has out there. He wants us to follow his commands so that we have the freedom to be able to walk this thing out, trusting in him. If we look at verse five through six, I know I'm kind of jumping around everywhere, but just follow me here. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. The Bible also talks about the heart leading you into wrong places. So, what is it saying? Trust the Lord, not your own fleshly desire of your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. How do we understand like God? We come back to his word. In all your ways, acknowledge him. So, whatever you're doing this morning, where wherever you are right now, acknowledge him and say, Lord, what are we up to? What are you up to today? And how can I be a part of that? And he shall direct your paths. You see, every single one of you are on a path right now. Every one of you, no matter where you are, and there's a path that you are on that is specifically driven towards you. That is your assignment, that's your call, that's what you're supposed to do. Let's head on over to verse 26, because you are built for confidence. After he talks about and your foot will not stumble, this is verse 24. When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Now he's not, I don't believe God is talking to us about the pie in the sky and the sweet by and by and all that, right? These are these are kings and warriors that were being sought out, that were being hunted. He said, when you lie down, don't be afraid. Get some sleep because you have a long journey ahead of you. So, business owner, leader, right now, there is a long path ahead of you. God wants you to follow that path. He wants you to know that everything on the inside of you, that whatever that is that you are out trying to create, listen, he's already done it. Step into it and don't be afraid. Verse 25 says, Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes, when it comes, not if it comes. So what is he saying here? No matter what the enemy throws at you, no matter what your flesh tries to do with you, no matter what that looks like, I want you to trust that you can sleep. Watch this, verse 26. For the Lord will be your confidence. The Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught. Now, isn't that amazing that we don't have to conjure up our own confidence? The Lord will be our confidence, the trusting in him in all of our ways, the understanding leaning on his understanding and not our own. The Lord will be our confidence. That's why you are built for confidence. Why? Because God created you in his image. So you were built for the Lord's confidence on the inside of you. This is where you are going to excel. This is where you are going to elevate. This is where you are going to get into a place in a space where God wants you to be.
