Episode Overview

In this episode, Coach Paul Ybarra helps Kingdom Builders shift their mindset from "What if it doesn't work?" to "What if it actually works?". By drawing on biblical principles and practical leadership strategies, he explores how to rebuild identity, sharpen clarity, and lead with conviction right where God has placed you.

Key Takeaways

  • Write the Vision: Clarity is the essential first step before execution. Following the pattern in Habakkuk 2:2-3, writing your vision plainly on paper or in a journal removes confusion and allows you—and those running with you—to execute with precision.
  • The Power of Accountability: Surround yourself with "teammates" rather than just "people who fluff you". You need a community that provides the right input, holds you accountable, and helps you evaluate if your patterns are glorifying God.
  • Commitment vs. Intention: Intention is like motivation—it is prone to fading. True execution requires commitment, specifically committing your works to the Lord so that your thoughts can be established.
  • Confidence is Internal: Confidence is not a personality trait or something you seek externally; it is already placed inside you by God. It is the assurance of God’s presence rather than a reliance on your current circumstances.
  • Courage Follows Clarity: Many wait until they "feel ready" to move, but Coach Ybarra emphasizes that you must move knowing you are backed by God. Courage is required after clarity, not before; taking the first step often provides the clarity needed to find the courage for the next.
  • Consistency and Results: Confidence grows through obedience in action. As you take small, consistent actionable steps, God aligns and stabilizes your direction.

Scriptures Mentioned

  • Habakkuk 2:2-3: "Write the vision and make it plain that he may run who reads it".
  • Proverbs 16:3: "Commit your works to the Lord and your thoughts will be established".
  • Philippians 1:6: Being confident that He who began a good work in you will complete it.
  • Joshua 1:9: "Be strong and of good courage for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go".

Welcome to Build for Confidence, the podcast where kingdom builders rebuild identity, start with clarity, and lead with conflicts. I am your host, Coach Paul Ibarra, and every week we're cutting through the noise to help you stop second-guessing, start deciding, and build with confidence right where God is placed. So listen, drop a review, drop a comment, hit that like, subscribe, all the things, and let's get started. But it says, write the vision and make it plain that he may run who reads it. So this is telling me right now that this is a pattern and a recipe that is going to help our business owners understand that when you write the vision, it makes it clear before it can be executed. You see, clarity is the number one thing that will cause us and allow us in our mindset to say, when this works, not if it doesn't work, then what am I going to do? When this works, because I've taken the time to create the vision and make it plain. Now, what does it mean so that he may run who reads it? That's the people that you surround yourself with. That's the people that are rocking out with you, the right people, not the people that are gonna say, I don't really think that's gonna work. You see, that's where the mindset comes in of like, what if this doesn't work? But if you surround yourself with people, and I'm not talking about people that fluff you, I'm talking about people that are like, you know, that's a great idea, dude. Here's what you should probably tweak in that vision. Maybe there's some things that you can add to it. This is what I would do, but I listen, I'm here to support you. Those are the kinds of people that you need in your life. Now, the people that are in your life that are telling you the truth are also going to be those people that are going to say, Look, man, you've done this before, and there's a pattern that you're living by. And I don't really think that's glorifying God or glorifying your business. So you may want to take a step back and really evaluate that. Those are the people that aren't only encouraging you, but those are the people that are keeping you and holding you accountable so that you have success and progress everywhere that you go. Does that make sense? So I want you to find those people. I want you to look for those people in your life, reach out to them and say, listen, matter of fact, let me just drop this in here. Clarity creates movement and direction. Because we want the thing to work, we're writing the thing down, we're getting the right input from the right accountability partner, we're getting the words of wisdom from those who love us and care about us and that are not only cheering us on, but they are our teammates. This is where everything becomes clear in our life. Because execution begins when confusion is removed. But you must first write your vision down. It has to be on paper, it has to be even on a post-it, on a whiteboard, somewhere. Write the vision down and make it plain. And when you do that, I'm not talking about a vision board. I'm not talking about mapping it out. I'm talking about writing it down, putting it in your journal, somewhere where you can look at it maybe once a week, maybe once a day. Whatever that's gonna do for you, however that's gonna work, write it down and make it plain. Don't make it confusing. Stop making things confusing and just and make it plain. It's that simple. Make sense? So now we're gonna move on to Proverbs 16 and 3. And it says, Commit your works to the Lord and your thoughts will be established. So this comes back to the way we started this podcast. What if it actually worked? That's where your thoughts are established. Commit your works to the Lord, writing down the vision, giving it to God, and saying, Okay, God, when this works, your thoughts are going to be established. The Bible also talks about, I don't have that scripture reference with me, but go and look it up for yourselves. A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. Expect to receive nothing from him. And that's some truth. You ever been around those people where they're just constantly jabbering and talking and this and that, and there's no clarity, there's no nothing, right? Expect to receive nothing from them. Why? Because there's no credibility, there's no strength, there's no, there's no um, there's no accountability and there's no conviction behind it. Does that make sense? So, execution requires commitment, not just intention. Intention is like motivation, it fades. If your intention is constantly moving from one thing to the next and you're not committing it to God, and you're not keeping the word and the promise that you've gave God, then watch this. Your intention is going to collapse. And this is why it's valuable for your life, valuable for your business, that when you're walking in this thing of confidence, when you're walking out the confidence that God has already built on the inside of you, Philippians 1 and 6, being confident, not unsure, not maybe, but being confident in this very thing, that he who began a good work in me shall complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. Again, confidence isn't something you go seek, confidence is already placed on the inside of you. So that commitment attaches to your confidence, knowing that when I when I give my thoughts and my works to God and I write down the vision, everything else will be established. And then comes consistency. All right? You've got to be consistent every day of doing one small actionable step. Now, in the consistency, when you move, God aligns and stabilizes your direction. God aligns and stabilizes your direction when you commit your works to the Lord and your thoughts will be established. He is the one who stabilizes that and helps you through that. How? Through his word, continually standing on his word, continually doing the things that he's called you to do, continually going after those things and keeping your direction tight. Because here's where confidence grows. It grows through obedience in action. There's one thing to say, I'm obedient. There's another thing to say, I'm in action. And this is where God wants to shift your mindset today. So are you obedient right now in what He's called you to do? Are you really going after those things for the results that you would like to see? And see, this is where so many people get it twisted. Well, don't worry about the results. Listen, you have to have some kind of result that you're looking for. You have to. You have to be confident knowing that when I fill this cup up with water, guess what? I'm gonna drink it. When I take this porcelain cup or this ceramic cup and I start to mold it into a cup, guess what? What's it gonna turn into? A cup. Right? So when I'm recording this podcast, guess what the result's going to be? Someone is going to listen and they will be empowered in the confidence that God has given them. My job as your coach is to help draw that confidence out of you, show you what that confidence may look like, and now it's time for you to run with it. Make sense? So, again, execution requires commitment, not just intention. Confidence grows through obedience in action, and God aligns and stabilizes your direction when you move. So now we're gonna go into Joshua 1 and 9. Be strong and of good courage, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Now, if you're anything like me, back in the day, reading this scripture, I'm like, sounds good, but I still don't have that courage to go and do something that I've never done before. Ever been in that space? Are you in that space right now? Where you're like, you want me to walk into the unknown, the this place and space that I'm not too sure of, and you want me to be confident in that, but I've never been there. This is where God wants to shape you in a different way. So watch this. Confidence is not personality. There's so many times that people say, Man, right when I look at you, I just know that you're confident. It's not because of my personality, because they don't even know me yet. It's the way that I carry myself, it's the way that you carry yourself. Your um, what's the word that I'm looking for? Your body language is everything as well. When you show up confidently, knowing I can deliver this message, then guess what? The people around you are going to trust what you are delivering simply because you carry yourself with boldness, you carry yourself with authority, you carry yourself in a way that you don't even have to speak, but people see you and say, what he's about to deliver is something I can resonate with. Have you ever been there where you met somebody and you're just like, there's just something about that guy or that girl that I need to connect with? I've had people tell me that, like, there's just something about you. I've gained clients that have said there's just something about you, even if it's not the same niche that I'm typically coaching. They're like, but I know that you can help me. I'm like, okay, signed a contract. Let's go. Does that make sense? And this is where we want to understand that confidence is not personality. Here it is, it's assurance of God's presence. How do I show up? How do you show up? How are you showing up today? Are you showing up in your own present circumstance or are you showing up in God's presence? Present circumstance, God's presence. When you show up in God's presence, today's current circumstance does not matter because you're showing up in the boldness and the confidence that God built you for. All right. Courage is required after clarity, not before. Now, what does that mean? Courage is required after clarity. You see, you have to get clear first. But here's the thing: when you take a step, I've been in this realm where I had a coach, I'm like, I just need you to help me to get clear. He says, take step one. Take the first step that you need to do to get to the place that you want to go. But I don't know how to get there. No problem. Take a step anyway. The more steps that I took, that that first step didn't take courage. It honestly didn't. But when I took the step, I'm like, oh, that's not so bad. The next step, oh, doing a live stream, hitting that red button back in the day. It was like, okay, that's step one. Okay, cameras on. All right. I know how to talk. Oh, hey, what's going on? Everybody just wanted to come on this live stream. Oh, there's a person that popped in. Okay, next step. How are you doing? What's going on? Tell me about your day. Step three. Then I started getting clear on how to build community through an online platform. Once I gain the clarity, watch this. Courage. It's not that courage doesn't happen, but it's required after clarity. So what was the courage? The courage was continuing to show up every single day. Every day. Now there are those instances where you're in a in a fight or flight mode. So you have to have the courage to move forward. That's a different context. That's walking down a dark alley and you have to, you know, muggers coming at you. You have to have the courage to like knock that dude out. Totally different context. But in your business, step forward. Now here's the thing that causes so many business owners to fail. You don't wait till you feel ready. You move knowing you're backed up by God. Now I'm talking to my kingdom business owners. I'm talking to those who are building kingdom, that are building disciples, that are building the kingdom of God. You don't wait till you feel ready. Watch this. If you stay ready, you never have to get ready. What does that mean? Build in the space that you are right now. Build the momentum that you are right now. A house cannot get built without the foundation. So start with what I call phase one. You take phase one, you build that thing and say, okay, now I can put something on top of it. So you're ready for what's coming next. Once that next comes, then you can shift some things and tweak some things and make things happen, but at least you have your foundation down. You don't wait till you feel ready. You move knowing you're backed by God and by your community, by those same people that helped you look at the vision, the same people that helped you form those thoughts, the same people that are speaking to you saying, listen, just be strong and of good courage because God's got you. So where are you at today? Where are you at right now? In this moment in time, where are you at right now thinking about your business, your family, your lifestyle? Is there that area where you know and you feel, man, I just all this resonated with me. The vision, the thoughts, the confidence, the courage. No matter where you are, what you need to do is really truly understand that God is giving you an assignment. And as you work out that assignment, your confidence will begin to reveal itself day by day. The more you do something, the more you have confidence in the commitment and the consistency that you're creating. So that confidence is knowing God's got this. I got this. I can move in a way that no one else can. So I pray that this has blessed you today. And if you want to come and check out our Kingdom League Network, every fourth Friday we invite a non-member to our network meeting. This is where we have what we call the Collab Lab.
