Are you pricing from insecurity or building from shame?
In this episode of Built For Confidence, we go beyond standard leadership psychology to address the spiritual root of insecurity. We often think insecurity is a "lack" of confidence or skill, but what if it’s actually the presence of an accusation?
We take a deep dive into the "Courtroom of Heaven" to uncover how the enemy acts as a Diabolos—one who throws accusations to fracture your identity—and how the Cross provides the legal verdict that overrules him.
In this episode, we discuss:
- The Strategy of the Enemy: Understanding the Greek terms Satanas (Adversary) and Diabolos (Slanderer), and how the enemy "throws" accusations to divide teams and damage reputations.
- The "If You Are" Trap: Why the enemy attacks your identity ("If you are the Son of God...") rather than your power, trying to provoke you into a performance trap.
- The Courtroom Drama: A look at Zechariah 3 and the "filthy garments" of the High Priest. How God doesn't ask you to clean yourself up, but legally cancels the debt and changes your clothes.
- Business Application: How to stop leading from defense, pricing from insecurity, and serving from self-justification.
Scripture References:
- Revelation 12:10: The accuser of the brethren.
- Matthew 4:3: The temptation of identity.
- Zechariah 3: The exchange of filthy garments for pure vestments.
- Colossians 2:13-15: Canceling the legal record of debt.
- Romans 5:17: Reigning in life through the gift of righteousness.

Accusation Behind Business Problems
SPEAKER_01What if your biggest business problem isn't strategy but accusation? What if the voice pushing you to hustle harder, discount your rates, overexplain your leadership, or prove your worth is an ambition, but it's actually insecurity fueled by a lie? In today's episode, we're bridging two worlds together that rarely sit at the same table: modern leadership psychology and ancient biblical truth. Because you cannot fix a pricing problem, a burnout problem, or a leadership problem if you don't first silence your accuser. Let's go. Welcome to Build for Confidence, the podcast where kingdom builders rebuild identity, sharpen clarity, and lead with conviction. I am your host, Coach Paul Ibarra, and every week we're cutting through the noise to help you stop second guessing, start deciding, and build with confidence right where God has placed you. So listen, drop a review, drop a comment, hit that like, subscribe, all the things, and let's get started.
Show Mission And Paradigm Shift
SPEAKER_01It may sound like a strange mix, but just follow me here. What we're gonna uncover today makes a compelling case. Because as I said before, you cannot fix business problems without addressing the spiritual root, specifically the root of insecurity. You see, you may think insecurity is is a lack, maybe a lack of confidence, I lack skill, I lack experience, but what if insecurity isn't a lack of anything? Now I'm gonna let that sit for a minute.
SPEAKER_00What if it's the presence of an accusation?
SPEAKER_01Now I want you to really think about what I just said. What if insecurity isn't a lack of anything, but it's the presence of an accusation? And that's what I want you to consider today. We're gonna be going deeper. Not sure if you know this. I probably did it on my last episodes. It's kind of a blur because I did a lot of pre-recordings, like batching them out because I went to Israel. But Build for Confidence podcast is there's been a paradigm shift. Because I want to take you deeper into those areas of your life, your business, your leadership, all the things that have been screwing with your mind. And that's Satan. Okay. So here's what I want you to really consider that many leaders are operating under an accusation that they may not even consciously hear. Now, if you're anything like me, you just keep going. You just roll, you roll with the punches, you keep on fighting, you keep doing the thing, right? But sometimes you're spinning your wheels because of an accusation
Insecurity As Accusation
SPEAKER_01that you don't even really truly hear in your mind. It's something that's so embedded in your soul from your past mistakes, relationships, failures, all of that, right? But we're gonna build that confidence today. Okay, so here's what we're gonna unpack. We're gonna look at some Greek words, which I've never done before, that actually define the enemy of our confidence. And then we're gonna apply it directly to how you price your services, how you lead your team, and how you build your company. Now, some of you may be saying, but I'm a solopreneur. I I just do this thing all on my own. And that's cool. Or is it? Based off of what I've studied and based off of what I'm gonna drop today, you may just shift your mindset to say, am I operating solo simply because of an accusation, or am I operating solo because of what God's called me to do? Because here's the truth operating solo can only get you so far. But when you build a company and you build a team, I was just having a conversation with a very good friend of mine, Juan Free, is out of Dallas, out of Frisco, Texas. And he's expanding right now. And the conversation was priceless because he said, Man, I finally got a good realtor to find me a good land plot, um, an accountant, like the people that are helping me, the rep, the representatives, like all of that. It's it's finally a team that works together, and it's so exciting to walk into this next level. Why? Because he had a good team. So that's what made him understand. I'm not in this alone. You follow what I'm saying? And so, in this topic today, this is going to be a journey from the courtroom of heaven to the boardroom on Monday mornings. And
Solo vs Team And Mindset
SPEAKER_01here's how it starts: it starts by defining terms. So, since we're talking accusation, since we're talking devil, since we're talking Satan, since we're talking enemy, let's really break that down. Okay. So there's two specific Greek words that I'm going to be breaking down today. The first one is Satanos. Now, you probably think of that word as far as Satan, like this cartoon imagery, like red horns, kind of like deviled, um, deviled ham, right? If you're old school, you know what I'm talking about the pitchfork, the tail, the evil face. But let's strip away that visual and let's look at its function. Satanos translates to adversity, or should I say, adversary or accuser. Now that's a legal term. So talking about a courtroom, let's imagine a court courtroom. Satanus is the opposing counsel, the prosecutor. And you've probably heard this before, but I want to break it down for you. I want to paint this picture so that we go on a journey together. Now he's standing there with a thick file folder, suited up, ready to go, has a list of every mistake that you've ever made, every corner that you've ever cut, every reason that you shouldn't be in charge or even have a business. Now it's an adversary role designed, watch this, to bring a legal charge against you. You,
Defining Satanos And The Courtroom
SPEAKER_01the listener, right now, it is an adversarial role designed to bring a legal charge against you. And this is where I want you to shift your mindset. This is how heaven operates. It's legal standing, it's not just some spiritual thing called heaven where angels are just and pigeons flying around.
SPEAKER_00That's not that's not how it operates. You understand what I'm saying? Do you believe that?
SPEAKER_01It's a legality thing, especially when it comes to your adversary, Satan, Satanos, right, versus God accusing you. What does the Bible say? The accuser of the brethren out of the book of Revelation. Even try to tempt Jesus, and and we're gonna go deeper into that as we go on with this show. But I want to paint this picture for you, and this pertains to your business. The second term goes even deeper about who the enemy is: diabalos. This is often translated devil or slander, but watch this. The etymology is powerful, it comes from the word dia, and balo meaning to throw. So literally to throw across. Now, this picture is active, it's not passive, and it's not him sitting in a corner. The diabalos throws accusations, the devil throws accusations through relationships, through communities, to what? Create a fracture. He is the divider. So if there's a rumor that's thrown between business partners, it creates division. So what happens? Trust fractures. The enemy's goals are very clear.
Diabolos And Division Tactics
SPEAKER_01To damage reputation, spread damaging reports, and separate the people. That's why Jesus tells Peter, I believe, that the enemy Satan is sifting you.
SPEAKER_00He wants to cause the divide.
SPEAKER_01This is a strategy of the enemy, and it's called character assassination. I want you to believe something. I want you to really hear me right now. The enemy is cunning, the enemy is smart. Stop saying he's just this stupid devil. No, he ain't stupid. He's very smart, he's very strategic. God created him, so he is very strategic. Now think about how this plays in a company. And again, maybe for you, solopreneur, I do this on my own. Well, there's probably a reason. Because you're afraid. You're afraid of because of situations you've been in before. Maybe you were in a corporate setting and all of these assassinations come came in, these accusations came in, all these different things. So now you're afraid and I could do this on my own. Can you really? Because if you're listening to this podcast, obviously you're not pulling through your best efforts.
SPEAKER_00I'm just saying. So let's let's let's let's just just let's let's jump back in, okay?
SPEAKER_01Because when a culture, we're talking about companies, when a culture becomes toxic, it's rarely because of the product failing, it's because the narrative failed.
SPEAKER_00Someone threw suspicion. This goes back to Bible.
SPEAKER_01Did the CEO really mean that? Sometimes there's questions that are being asked, and you're like, Did are they questioning my authority? Are they questioning my knowledge? Um, is management hiding something? Like all the things that are happening, right? All this narrative that goes on, that's what kills. And then that doubt becomes the projectile. But here's the deeper layer. This throwing doesn't just happen externally, it happens internally. Why and how? Because narrative distortion is in your own head. This takes us back to Genesis 3, when the serpent asked Eve, did God really say? You think the enemy was confused? Like, did what wait a minute? Hold on, let me help help me understand something. No, this wasn't confusion, and it wasn't a request for clarification. It was a tactic.
Genesis 3: Fractured Trust And Identity
SPEAKER_01He is strategic. The strategy was to question what the authority said. Watch this, to fracture trust in the authority. So Eve is standing there and go, wait a minute. Well, he did say did God really say yeah, huh? But now the serpent's telling me that that's not gonna happen.
SPEAKER_00So that's fracturing trust. Really trust? You know what? I'm gonna go eat that fruit.
SPEAKER_01And once trust fractures, watch this identity gets redefined. Why? Because of the mirror that you think about what that thing that person thinks about you. How dare they think that they can't tell me the truth? How dare they think that the audacity of some people, identity gets redefined. And when identity shifts, separation follows. The result is also fracture. And when you're fractured, you're insecure. And this is where you got to be very careful because the enemy is very cunning. Now let's fast forward to Matthew chapter four.
Matthew 4: Identity Provokes Performance
SPEAKER_01The whole temptation of Jesus. And I'm gonna go to my to my literal Bible, right? Because we're gonna break this thing down. Okay. So we're going over to why am I having trouble finding Matthew? It's usually the easiest thing to find.
SPEAKER_00Let's go on over to Matthew chapter 4. Verse 3. This is where the enemy says this.
SPEAKER_01Now, when the tempter came to him, he said, If you are the son of God, command that these stones become bread.
SPEAKER_00The issue wasn't food.
SPEAKER_01The issue was identity. The enemy didn't attack power, he attacked identity.
SPEAKER_00If you are, right?
SPEAKER_01Because he's looking at it going, if you are, then you can command that means power, authority, identity, that these stones become bread. But see, that was his weapon. And when identity is attacked, it prof it provokes performance. Not in Jesus, but in you. When identity is attacked, it pref it provokes performance. I've been in these situations in a corporate setting, in a business setting, in a customer setting, like, well, we expected this to be this, and it didn't turn out that way. So what did I do? Quickly, started to perform. Well, I did it this way, but this person didn't follow up with this, or this person didn't follow up with that. It starts to create this narrative in your mind. I have to perform to prove myself right. Right? When in fact the customer didn't pay for that service. But if I would have gone to the legal document, the contract, to say, well, we didn't do that because of this, there was no legal document because everything was word of mouth.
SPEAKER_00Make sense?
SPEAKER_01So if you're secure, you don't need to turn stones into bread to prove anything. You can simply stay hungry. This is so good. If you're secure, you don't need to prove to turn stones into bread to prove anything. You can simply be hungry. But if you're insecure, if you've bought into the accusation, what happens? You start performing, you start hustling, you start spinning your wheels, you start turning every stone into bread just to prove and build a resume to silence the accuser that's in your head. You lead from a defensive crouch. You try to prove you exist. And that, my friend, is a recipe for burnout. Because you end up working for your identity instead of from your identity. I'm gonna say that again for those in the back. You end up working for your identity instead of working from your identity. Now, I don't know if you've noticed, but there's a shift in this podcast because before I was trying to put information out, whether though it was good, I was putting information out to prove, and I'm just being a 100 with you, to prove that I'm your next level mindset coach, to prove that I can create this podcast. No, this podcast I've studied for two and a half days, went into the deep dive. Why? Because of the identity of who I am. I am a teacher. And as I teach, it comes from the identity that God has given me. Right?
Legal Overruling: Zechariah 3
SPEAKER_01So if the problem is a legal accusation, the solution has to be a legal overruling. Now let's go to Zachariah chapter three. This is a full-blown Bible study, y'all. Now, just so you know, if you're on this podcast, starting tonight, I am hosting my deeper waters Bible study that I left alone for so many years. But God has called me when I was in Israel, said, You need to get back into your ministry side. So, if you want more information about that, the link will be in the podcast in the show notes and all the things. But I appreciate you even just being a part of this podcast. All right. So Zachariah chapter three. Then he, this is verse one. Then he showed me Joshua, the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord. And watch this. And Satan, Satanos, the accuser, the adversary, standing at his right hand to oppose him. And the Lord said to Satan, The Lord rebuke you, Satan. The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you. Is this not a brand plucked from the fire? Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments and was standing before the angel. Then he answered and spoke to those who stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And to him he said, See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes. And I said, Let them put a clean turban on his head. So they put a clean turban on his head, and they put the clothes on him, and the angel of the Lord stood by. Now I want you to picture this scene. It's a heavenly courtroom. Joshua, the high priest, stands before the angel of the Lord, and he's fit, and he's clothed in these filthy garments. And this isn't dust. The Hebrew implies something vile, right? This is like unclean. He's utterly disqualified by his appearance. Standing at his right hand, Satanus, Satan, the accuser, and here's the tension: the accuser isn't lying. The garments are filthy. If this trial is based on performance, Joshua loses. He had no defense. But then the verdict comes in: Lord rebuke you, O Satan. And then the command, this is where the power comes in. Remove the filthy garments from him. See, I have taken your iniquity away from you, and I will clothe you with pure vestments. Watch this. The evidence changes, the status changes, the shame is removed. Joshua didn't earn it. He didn't perform for it. You ready? He received it. Colossians 2 talks about that as well. Let's head on over there. Because I want, as business owners, man, we got to stop operating thinking it's just a struggle bus. No, it's accusations that are so deeply rooted in your spirit, in your psyche, in your soul, that you don't even hear anymore. It's just a pattern and it's a machine that's
Colossians 2: Disarming The Accuser
SPEAKER_01moving in your life, and you're wondering why doesn't this ever work? Right? So let's go to Colossians 2 and 14. Having wiped out, matter of fact, um, let's go to 13. Colossians 2 and 13, and you being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he has made alive together with him, Jesus, having forgiven you all trespasses. Watch this. Here it is, having wiped out the handwritten of the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us, and he has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Verse 15, having disarmed principalities and powers, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. Jesus already did it. Colossians is explaining the legal mechanics. The record of death that stood against us with its legal demands was canceled by the cross, by the nails. In the Roman world, there was a literal certificate listing offenses. The crucifixion is the moment that certificate. Was nailed to the cross.
SPEAKER_00Marked, paid, annulled, destroyed.
SPEAKER_01If the prosecutor's only weapon is your file of debt and the judge destroys the file, watch this. The prosecutor is disarmed. When you go to court, once that judge smacks that gavel, it's a wrap, my friend. And that's what Jesus did for us. So how does this tie into business? How does this tie into confidence? Let me just break this down for you. The Diabolos, the devil, has no ammunition left to throw. Now, why am I putting these Greek words out there? Because I want you to understand the difference. Satanos is the adversary and the accuser. Diabolos is the adversary and the false accuser.
Confidence vs Ego And Abraham
SPEAKER_01Now, what is the false accuse? The doubt. You're not good enough. You're not this, you're not that. The truth of the accused is you failed at this because you didn't do these right steps. The false accuser is the one that puts the doubt, the insecurity, the thing. Does that make sense now? These are two different words that create the same narrative if you're not careful. Yes, you've sinned. Yes, you've failed. Yes, that business didn't work out right. Yes, that relationship was jacked. Yes, you you messed up at a church, whatever that is. The false accusation is that you can never repair moving forward from that. This is so good, man. I don't know about y'all, but I'm just like eating this up. Okay. So now let's bridge this into confidence. Confidence, and I've heard this before, confidence is ego. We as men have an ego. No, ego is self-manufactured. It's convincing yourself and others that you're great. Thank you, Holy Spirit. Let's go on over to Genesis. I believe it's Genesis 15.
SPEAKER_00If you follow the story of Abraham, you'll know where I'm going, baby. Actually, no. Genesis 12.
SPEAKER_01Now the Lord had said to Abram, Get out of your country from your family and from your father's house to a land that I will show you. I will bless you. Actually, no, I will make you a great nation. I will bless you. And what? Make your name great, and you shall be a blessing. Chapter 15. After these things, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward. So again, confidence is not ego. Ego is self-manufactured. It's convincing yourself and others that you're great. God already said that we're great. True confidence
Build From Identity Not Shame
SPEAKER_01is agreement with the verdict of heaven. Hebrews 10 speaks of the full assurance of faith. Go read it for yourself. All right. Hearts are sprinkled clean from an evil conscience. That evil conscience is the internal accuser. Let it go. Real confidence is not puffing your chest out, it's agreeing with God that you are clean, accepted, and authorized to be there. So let's get practical. If you actually believe this, if you agree with the verdict, how does that change this Monday morning? How does it change your corporate mindset? How does it change your business strategy?
SPEAKER_00I want you to understand something. First, you're not building from shame.
SPEAKER_01I know for me, this next question, I'm going to answer this. How many businesses are started because someone has a chip on their shoulder? Like, I'll show them. I was literally asked to leave a church because of our ministry years ago. And the words that came out of my mouth was, you know what? I'm going to start a church and I'm going to show them how to build a church. It lasted a couple months. We moved to Colorado, but even before us moving, God showed me, like, you're not. Actually, no. Let me correct that. When I moved to Colorado, I had a bunch of equipment, speakers, outreach stuff, banners, all the things. And I'm like, Lord, why did you have me? He's like, I never called you to build a church. I called you to build people. You thought you could build a church because you were pissed.
Lead Offense Not Defense
SPEAKER_01That's not what I called you to do. That was my own chip on my own shoulder. But see, I was shamed by it. I was so mad because I was kicked out of somewhere that I knew something worked, but is that internal shame for myself? You see, shame is a high octane fuel. It works for a while, but it burns dirty. It destroys health, family, and culture. So let's flip it. Building from identity means you build because you have something to give, not because you have something to prove. So I'm going to say that again. Building from identity means you build because you have something to give. I know I have something to give. My ministry is powerful. Why? Because my God is powerful and He's made my name great, not because I have something to prove. So again, if you want to join us tonight for our Bible study, come on through and we're going to break some more stuff down. Okay. Second, you're not leading from defense. Defensive leaders interpret every question as an attack. But if your identity isn't tied to your performance, you can listen. You can pivot. You can admit mistakes without collapsing internally. Have you ever been in that situation where you're like, you know, why did
Pricing With Authority Not Fear
SPEAKER_01you do these things this way? Well, just because. No. They're just asking a question. Like, why are we doing this this way? Why why are you why'd you take that left turn? Well, just do you want to drive? I do that a lot to my wife. Why are we going this way? Do you want to drive? She's like, no, I'm just asking a question.
SPEAKER_00All right. So that's a whole different podcast.
SPEAKER_01But as I take a sip of water. Third, you're not pricing from insecurity. Pricing from insecurity looks like undercutting the market. Apologizing for your rates. Discounting before being asked. Negotiating against yourself. Taking bad clients because you're afraid the money will run out. That's survival. That's scarcity. I was talking with somebody earlier today. I'm not going to put the names out there, but hopefully she's listening and she's going to chuckle because we're just having a conversation. She's like, I just want to make sure that my pricing has impact. This and that. I was like, listen, shh, everything you do is impact. When you go on your live streams, there's multiple people that show up. There's people that have gone to your free class and now they want to hire you for coaching. That means you've already been an impact. All you've got to do now is put a price on it. Pick a price, solidify it so that God can bless it. We cannot keep spinning our wheels, business owners. So let's wrap this up. Kingship, because we're kingdom, says your value isn't
Serve From Love Not People-Pleasing
SPEAKER_01determined by the client's budget. It is not your responsibility to make someone else's mind up. It's determined by who you are and what you bring. It's time for you to hold your ground. You can price with authority, not arrogance, but authority, knowing exactly who you are, knowing what you're providing, knowing the value. And fourth, you're not serving from self-justification. Are you serving people because you love people? Or are you serving people because you need to be liked? I see it all the time, especially in church settings. People want to do so many things just because they want to be liked. They'll let things go. Why? Just so they'll be liked. That's a Moses mentality. You have to rise up like a Joshua and say, listen, as far as me and my house, we will serve the Lord. As far as me and my house, we're going to set a price. As far as me and my house, this leadership is going to be operated this way. If you don't like it, keep it moving. Because people pleasing is insecurity in a nice little suit.
SPEAKER_00When you operate from the verdict, you serve because you love the heavenly verdict.
SPEAKER_01You don't need applause to sleep at night. Romans 5 and 17. Let's break that down before we go. All right. Final scripture of this morning. Are y'all enjoying this? If you are, do me a huge favor and drop a comment in the
Reign By Receiving Grace
SPEAKER_01comment section or leave a review on Apple or shoot me a text and say, yo, you're doing all right, bro. Now I'm not doing that for justification. I'm doing that because I want to make sure I'm bringing some good content, right? Five and 17 out of Romans, for if by one man's offense death reigned through the one, much, and that's Adam, much more those who receive abundance of grace in the gift of righteousness will reign R-E-I-R-E-I-G-N in life through the capital one, Jesus Christ. Right? So it's saying that those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness will reign in life. Receive, not achieve. So in a business world built entirely on achievement, quarterly targets, KPIs, revenue metrics, operating from received identity is radical, right? You stop, you stop turning stones into bread to prove you are the son. You stop uh turning programs into something cheaper just to please somebody. You know you're the content creator. You know you're the coach. You know, I know that I'm the next level mindset coach. So I build from security. So you as a business owner ought to be building from security. Because at the end of the day, you bring your whole self to work, everything about you. If your self is fractured by accusation,
Audit Decisions And Build From Verdict
SPEAKER_01watch this. Your work, your conversations, your leadership, your marriage, everything will be fractured. Your leadership will be defensive and your pricing will suck. Just saying. But if your self is secure in the verdict, your work will be solid. So here's the question I want you to sit with. If you paused right now and audited your business decisions, your pricing, your hiring, your strategy, how many of those decisions are reactions to an internal accusation?
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna let that sit.
SPEAKER_01If you paused right now and audited your business decisions, your pricing, your hiring, your strategy, how many of those decisions are reactions to an internal accusation that's been haunting you day by day?
SPEAKER_00How many things are you doing just to prove that you belong? Well, I'm a coach, man. Like people gotta recognize that I'm a coach. So if you're if you find yourself building from accusation, it may be time to revisit the verdict. And if you're kingdom, the verdict is great. Because God has covered it all, every bit of it.
SPEAKER_01So as we wrap this up, I want you to understand something. The highest court has already ruled in your favor. Now build from it. So remember, Satanos Satan is the adversary and the accuser. Diabolos to throw through, to throw accusations is the adversary and the false accuser.
Community Invitation And Closing CTAs
SPEAKER_01Two different meanings. Number one, you failed at the business. I got that. You failed at this, I got that. The false accusation is you didn't learn nothing from it. Yes, I did. I learned what not to do. But see, that false accusation that continues to come in is doubt.
SPEAKER_00Grind, hustle, go harder. When in fact, God is saying, Don't grind, don't flow, don't hustle, don't rest, don't grind. Have a rhythm. Make sense?
SPEAKER_01So listen, if this has blessed you today, head on over to our Kingdom Link Network Facebook group. That link will be in the show notes. This is where we come together, we introduce each other. I put posts out there and people are posting and all the things.
SPEAKER_00But just come be a part of the Facebook group and really share what your business is about.
SPEAKER_01Maybe ask some questions about your business. Like, hey, I'm kind of trying to figure out some some content or I have a question about my business. Can somebody help me answer that?
SPEAKER_00That's what it's for. Building community. Because it's time to build from the verdict of heaven.
SPEAKER_01So if that's you, head on over to our Facebook group. This has been a pleasure. I love you. God bless you. And remember, if this has brought you any value, drop a comment, drop a review, shoot me a text, join my email list, all the things. But I love you guys. God bless you.
